Apart from Prayagraj (formerly known as Allahabad), annual Kumbh fair is also organized rotation basis every three years at other sacred places Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik every year but the Ardha (half) Kumbh Mela is held at gap of every six years in only Prayagraj and Haridwar which is located in Uttarakhand.

Though the Purna Kumbh which is also called Maha Kumbh is organized only in Prayagraj comes after every 12 years and as per the calendar schedule, the next Maha Kumbh will be held in 2025 in Prayagraj again.

Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, is organised on the banks of river Ganga and in Ujjain and Nashik, it is organised on the banks of Godavari and Shipra rivers.

While Kumbh Mela 2019 Allahabad is organized at the confluence of three of the holiest rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. If the holy dip is taken on special days it has more importance which is also called Shahi Snaan.

For Allahabad Kumbh Mela 2019 Preparation government has made special arrangements like building temporary bridges, 600 mass kitchens to cook and feed visitors, constructed more than 100,000 portable toilets, and vast tents for sleeping thousands of pilgrims at a time with comforts.

An Opportunity to Worship the Ancient Holy Tree of Akshayavat

After inauguration by India PM, this time state government has done special arrangements for visitation of ancient holy tree called Akshayavat which was earlier not allowed since last 450 years for common people. Akshayavat or Akshay Vat is actually a prehistoric banyan tree or a sacred fig tree standing here along with ‘Sarasvati Koop’ which is also worshiped here.

The importance of this tree is that, as per the Hindu mythology, once the sage Markandeya asked Lord Narayana to show him a example of the divine power. Narayana flooded the entire world for a moment, during which only the Akshayavat is the thing was not submerged and can be seen above the water level. So, this time you will get the chance to worship Akshayavat and get the blessing from world’s most divine tree.
